Unlike the open-source Android operating system, those who use iOS are bound to stick with its own privacy policy requirement not allowing users to access third-party installations from sources outside the Apple App Store. What if iOS users want to experience some Android applications? It’s totally possible to make Android apps run on MAC thanks to the development of multi-platform software called emulators. Today, in this post, I will introduce several popular Android-based emulators and methods to simulate the Android experience on your MAC computer.
What is the Android Emulator?
An emulator is known as a multi-system software designed to regenerate the functions of other computing environments without the need for the authentic system. In other words, it enables users to smoothly run Android applications from the original OS to the default target platform such as MAC, Windows 7/8/10. However, it should be noted that computer performance on using Android emulators are fairly slow due to the storage space of your computer’s memory or RAM.
How to install Android apps on MAC
There are abundant best emulators for PC to run Android Apps, particularly for MAC computers. Each of them has its own pros and cons when imitating as an Android operating system. In the following part, I will list some of the frequently-used emulators for you to manually download apps, namely Bluestacks and Nox Player.
Bluestacks
As a pioneer of running mobile apps on PC, Bluestacks has gained over 300+ million downloads turning it into the most popular Android gaming platform over the world. Plus, it also provides users with high-quality performance, vivid graphic features on a broad screen. You can easily download and install Bluestacks from the official website. There are two methods to make Android apps work on MAC PC:
Method 1: Via Google Play
- Once Bluestacks is installed on your Mac, you need to sign in a Google account first.
- Open Google Play browser>Search for your favorite app to download.
Method 2: Download APK files
Sometimes, you can fail to access Google Play account on Bluestacks, in this case, sideloading APK files is the ideal alternative. I highly recommend downloading from reliable, antivirus third-party websites such as apktoVi, apktot, otherwise, your device may end up being attacked by malware.
- Go to Google > Find the website apkoVi.
- In the search bar, type the app name that you eager to download.
- Click the “Download” button and wait until the download to complete.
- Open Bluestacks and drag the downloaded file on the homescreen.
