Sometimes you try to send images or files to your friends on Discord but it still keeps sending. You may wonder what caused this and how you can send them through.
This happens because the maximum upload filesize allowed in Discord is 8MB while the files you upload are over it. So, is there any way to bypass this file size limit?
Before answering the question, we need to know about Discord, how it works and why people use this app.
What is Discord?
Discord is a voice and messaging app, particularly used by gaming communities. This is a completely free app available for both iOS and Android. Discord allows users to create their own servers and host private, password protected, or public channels within those servers. Channel moderators then send invitations to users in order for them to join a channel.
Is discord really safe?
Although Discord is built to be safe, has many ways to be safe, you can’t assure your safety because trolls, hackers, and meme-lords can attack your server if your server invite is spread publicly.
How to send a video from your gallery?
Open the chat channel or Discord server you intend to send the video, go in the text bar, and you should find a “+”. Choose the voice chat you want to join (in the channel list), and connect.
How to Bypass Discord File Size Limit?
Unfortunately, there is no real way to bypass Discord file limit but you can compress the files to reduce the size before uploading to Discord for the successful uploads. Another way is that you should upgrade to Nitro to increase your file size limit up to 50MB. How amazing it is, right?
For those who have never heard about Nitro, it is a Discord booter giving you unlimited access to a wide range of games. With awesome chat perks, Nitro helps to increase your all-in-one Discord voice, video, and text chat.
If you want to share a file in discord without Nitro, split your files into smaller ones which are lower than 8MB using some compression tool or just uploading it to some other free file host and then copying the link to chat.
Change the File Upload Size Limit
Before uploading files on Discord, you should adjust their size limit first.
Here’s how to change the File Upload size limit on any form:
1. Add a file upload field to your form.
2. Click on the gear icon to open its properties.

3. Go to the ‘Options’ tab.
4. Turn on the ‘limit size’ option and set the ‘Minimum and Maximum file size limit’ (in KB) that you prefer.

See, if the file you upload to Discord is over 8MB, you’ll see this message again, that’s to be expected. But what if your file’s just under 8MB? It should work fine right?
Keep in mind that to keep Discord smooth, we have to keep any files below 8mb.
